3D Print Stuff

After watching their advancements for over a decade, I finally decided to get a 3D printer. I went with the Bambu Lab A1 (w/ AMS lite).

After printing a bunch of printer addons and toys, I started designing some of my own stuff to print. I first tried Blender, but then decided to go with FreeCAD.

The first thing I made was a tool organizer / towel holder thing that resembles an old cup holder. It was just something that popped into my head after needing a place to put the damp towel I was using to clean my build plate and somewhere to put tools I was frequently accessing. After that I made an IR blocker for Apple TV. I had been wrapping my Apple TV units in black electrical tape to block their IR sensors, as they were picking up random signal reflections from old remotes.

I have a page on MakerWorld with my published prints.

XdN Shooter mini

I just finished putting together a game in PICO-8.

Well, the game's not finished, yet, but it is in a "good enough" state that I feel that I can share it. It plays a bit like Space Invaders or Galaga.
I drew the graphics and created most of the sounds. The music is converted from other video games and may be familiar to some.

You can play it online (in your browser) or you can download it to play on PICO-8 or using the fake08 core in RetroArch on actual game hardware. My wife and I have been playing it on the RG35XX handheld.

hide macOS menu bar icons

Annoyed by too many icons or the spacing of them on the Menu Bar in macOS? Here are a few programs that can help keep them under control.

Hidden Bar, Free

Dozer, Free & Open Source

Vanilla, $10 for Pro

Bartender, $15

The first three work similar to each other, with a basic "collapse" feature to hide icons. Bartender stands out with a bit more features, including its own bar for icons that can be displayed under the menu bar. Great for when you have a lot of icons on a new MacBook Pro that has a notch.

Liquid Internet

I'm still here!

While the number of posts to this site hasn't increased much over the years, I've still continued to add page content and files.

Instead of the standard "blog" layout, I will probably be switching the site over to have a standard landing/welcome page, with expanded links and directory features.
