asheron's call and 3dfx

A few updates... :)

I've added a "Asheron's Call and 3dfx" section. It can be found on my Asheron's Call page. It mostly shows off graphical errors caused by 3dfx hardware.

I turned 20 on December 18th. Still one year away from buying my own alcohol. :( It's funny how its a LOT easier to get ahold of all kinds of drugs than it is a beer.

I got two new gerbils!!! One solid gray, and the other black.

My page counter is getting close to 30,000 hits. Wow. :)

diamond monster fusion

Very interesting... Diamond had updated their Monster Fusion driver page recently (11/11). Not with new drivers, but a patched file to use with their OLD drivers (which were released way back in March).
This is from their site:

Date: 11/11/99
File Size: 190Kb
The following is a DLL update for the Diamond 3D tab. This is to be used if you are receiving an error regarding DirectX when trying to access the Diamond 3D tab. To apply this update, simply download DMD3D.DLL, and place it in your Windows\System folder.

Reasons for release:
Updates Diamond 3D tab for DirectX 7 compatibility

What does all that mean? Nothing! It doesn't mean their drivers are DX7 compatible, or that they are suddenly more stable. But, if you are using Diamond's "213" drivers for your Monster Fusion, then grab this update.
Here is the link:

(Thanks to "Care-k.i.t. GmbH-Hopp" for alerting me of the new file.)

Also, make note of the 10/15/99 drivers they have for Windows NT4. It seems Diamond/S3 has been doing some kind of work on the Monster Fusion after all.

I made some updated Fusion drivers with the above newer file, along with some updated Glide files and OpenGL ICD. You can the new Monster Fusion drivers here (link removed).

banshee section

I have updated my Banshee section with a few links, a new layout, and a new file. The new file is some Windows NT 4 drivers. They are from 3dfx's newest NT4 reference drivers, but with a fixed INF file.
3dfx's original INF file set the memory clock higher than some Banshees could take, and would result in messed up graphics and lock ups. Using my drivers should fix this. :)
Also, I know some people have seen this already, but for those who haven't seen it yet, check out my Checkers page.

windows 2000

I had Windows 2000 RC2 installed for about an hour last night before going nuts trying to fix one problem after another with it (driver related). I promptly re-installed Windows 98 to get functionality back in my system. I should be re-installing Windows 2000 again tonight (into a seperate directory from my current install of Windows, so I can still use Windows 98) since I now have some better video drivers and a better understanding on how to install current drivers.
On a side note, I will be updating my Banshee page soon with some updated Windows 95/98, Windows NT 4.0, and Windows 2000 drivers. The drivers released by 3dfx recently were CRAP. I will be making new drivers for Windows 95, 98, and 2000 with updated Glide and OpenGL files from the recent reference driver release - but with older 2D drivers that are more stable than what 3dfx included in its newest reference drivers. The NT4 drivers I should have up will be pretty much unchanged from 3dfx's NT4 reference drivers, but will have my updated INF file in them to improve stability (several people get scrambled or other messed up graphics in NT4 with 3dfx's reference drivers, including me).
No ETA as to when the new drivers will be up.
