HTC Dream / G1

Ah, yes. The first commercially-released Android device.

* Abandoned by HTC at Android 1.x.

* Only 192 Megs RAM, about half of what was needed to run anything.

My current setup:

Phone: T-Mobile G1 / HTC Dream
Recovery installed: RA-dream-v1.7.0
SPL installed: 1.33.0013d
Radio installed: 2.22.28.25

I've tried several ROMs. From stock 1.0, 1.5, 1.6 to 2.1, 2.2 and even 2.3 builds based on CyanogenMod, AOSP, Super Aosp, COS-DS, Ginger Yoshi, etc. By far, the ROM with the most features, stability, and speed has to be "Froyo by Laszlo" 5.2 (Android 2.2.1).

Micro SD card used: ADATA 8GB "Class 10" Micro SDHC Card

Partition setup: 128 MB Swap, 1024 MB ext4, the rest FAT32.

Guide followed for the initial rooting:

Battery Issues:

Several G1 phones have batteries that have bulged and lost some (if not all) of their charge capacity. If your battery is misshapen, it should be replaced immediately.

If your battery appears to be physically fine, you may just need to condition it to get an accurate charge reading on it.

The quick guide to conditioning your battery (and calibrating the system's reading of it):

1) Charge the phone completely (leave it plugged in for at least an hour even when it says it's fully charged).
2) While still plugged in, boot into recovery (hold Home when you turn it on or reboot it).
3) Wipe battery stats and then reboot the phone to get back to normal mode.
4) Once you are back to your Desktop, remove the charging cable and allow the phone to drain all the way *until it shuts down*.
5) Plug the phone back in and allow it to charge fully (plus at least one hour) again.
