What the hell? Something I create is not mine?

I’ve been using the pre-paid phone service “Virgin Mobile” for around 5 years now. I’ve had a lot of issues with them in the past, partially because of service issues but mostly the huge cluster-fuck of customer service.
No one keeps track of issues. No one communicates. No one can be held accountable when something goes [...]

Evil people hijack Shareaza and put up fake site

“Shareaza” is a popular p2p program that supports multiple networks such as the gnutella network.
A few weeks ago, an “imposter” company (”Discordia”) took over the Shareaza website and put up their own site, complete with fake software. They call the software “Shareaza v4″ and even use the Shareaza logo.
Some fans of the real Shareaza [...]

Windows Live Writer Test

This is a test post from “Windows Live Writer”.
I’m not sure how well it works, but it had a super simple setup and automatically created an editing interface that matched my site’s look.
You can get Windows Live Writer here:http://get.live.com/writer/overview

Lasagna Cat

Garfield has always been a big money maker and enjoyed by millions of people. There are arguments by many about if the comics are even funny to begin with.
If you search web forums enough, you may find discussion about the characters in the strips, or even the mental issues of the main human character, Jon.
I’ve [...]

Final Fantasy IV

I just came across a really nice video for the Nintendo DS version of Final Fantasy IV.
When I first played the game when I was young, I felt pulled into the story more than any book, movie, or other video game ever made me feel.
While the original game certainly looks dated compared to what is [...]

Good job, CyberLink. No money for you.

After getting my HDTV card, I’ve been messing with various MPEG2 decoders. HDTV broadcasts are MPEG2 streams.
Watching normal, low-resolution television on my computer has always used a lot of processing power. Software de-interlacers, software decoders, software filters, etc.
Many video cards support decoding an MPEG2 steam (used in digital TV) entirely in hardware, greatly reducing the [...]

Flock 1.0.1

Some time ago, I made a post about a new browser called “Flock”.
Flock is a “social browser” built on Firefox. It has a new/different interface than Firefox, and several integrated buttons and shortcuts to many popular social and “Web 2.0″ sites such as Blogger, Flickr, Facebook, YouTube, and del.icio.us.

MySpace… back in 2001?

Since Gmail started offering IMAP access, that has allowed me to link it to my other email accounts and dump all my messages going back to 1999 on their service (I’ve lost just about all my email from before 1999).
After dumping all my email to Gmail’s servers, it’s filters picked up some “new” messages that [...]

New TV card, and death of old card

While moving stuff around on my computer, my STB TV PCI card from 1996 broke. The metal simply snapped due to age.
It had out-lasted half a dozen computer replacements, and finally wore out.
To replace it, I purchased the KWorld PlusTV HD PCI 120.

The TV card has an Analog Tuner, a Digital Tuner, an FM [...]

I just got the worst USB hub ever

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16815123007
$17 shipped.

I thought it looked nice, it was cheap, it had 7 ports, did USB 2.0, and even had external power.
I get it, and find out the thing is a fucking lightshow. I can’t stand the constant flashing it does. I’m probably going to break it apart and tear out the LEDs.
